Then this is the class for you! We will discuss patterns vs. recipes, learn two cast-on techniques, the construction of the perfect-fitting sock, afterthought heels, and Jenny’s Surprisingly Stretchy Bind Off. Please note that this class is not for beginning sock knitters and there will be homework between classes.

It is made with sock or fingering weight yarn so it is light and easy to work on during the summer months. We will learn some basic shaping and easy stitches. Come have fun in this class and at the end you can do a fashion show.

Monday, July 14 and 21. 6 – 8 pm. $20.

Simple Shell Scarf

Learn how to crochet a quick scarf with a beautiful lace-looking design. This scarf looks very intricate and will make others think you spent lots of time crocheting, but in reality it is a simple pattern to learn and repeat. It would make a great gift for someone.

Monday, July 14. 1 – 3 pm. $15.

June Color Work Project of the Month

June 9, 2014

Have you seen the adorable color work project this month?

Das Monster LeggingsWith the monster trend in full swing, adding a cute monster face to the bum of leggings fits right in! These Das Monster leggings by Hrönn Jónsdóttir, are fantastic for babies and tots.  Plus, the pattern is free!

You make the creative choices with the face  and the colors for the stripes. In fact, the designer states that she is “completely confident about your ability to make up your own color arrangement.” How cool is that?

For this sample, Jen used Rowan Pure Wool Worsted, a superwash yarn that is wonderful to work with and growing in popularity here at Yarn Harbor.

What colors would you combine?
