New Books from Dale of Norway

We recently received Dale of Norway’s newest pattern collections.

Vancouver 2010 (NR 213)
The 2010 Olympic Winter Games will be held in Vancouver, British Columbia on Canada’s west coast.
Dale of Norway is pleased to present this special design to mark the upcoming games. The sweater uses the Norwegian traditions of skiing and outdoor activities as its starting points, then features a contemporary fit with fashion appeal in traditional colors. This special pattern for the entire family was designed by Kristina Hjelde.
The Olympic sweater and accessories can be made in Heilo, Falk, Daletta and Baby Ull.

With this book of retro designs, Dale of Norway is excited to present a collection of classic designs for the entire family. You’ll find pullovers and cardigans for all ages, along with tunic-length tops and accessories.
Most of the designs in this book were first presented in the 1960’s and ’70’s, and have been updated here with new colorways and comtemporary fit. We’ve also included a few new patterns following in the Dale tradition of classic Norwegian design.
Make the sweaters and accessories in this collection using Heilo, Falk, Lerke, Free Style and Ara.

A Conversation with Meg and Elizabeth

Calling all Zimmermann fans! Come join us Tuesday, August 11, from 7-9pm for a special presentation of select segments of A Knitting Glossary with Elizabeth Zimmermann and Meg Swansen, by Schoolhouse Press Presents.

 Our tribute to EZ will include a special showing of an interview with Elizabeth, conducted by Meg, that takes place at the old Schoolhouse itself! We will display our collection of Zimmermann books and tapes, as well as single patterns and the newly released sock yarn from Schaefer Yarn’s Memorable Knitters collection.

 

Bring along your favorite Zimmermann pieces as well as a cool drink. Since it’s movie night we thought some popcorn would be in order!

Special Event with Chrissy Gardiner

Join us for a book signing, trunk show and workshop at Yarn Harbor in celebration of Chrissy Gardiner’s new book, Toe-Up! Patterns and Worksheets to Whip Your Sock Knitting into Shape. We’ll have copies for sale at Yarn Harbor shortly.

 

As part of this event, Chrissy will offer a six-hour workshop on Saturday, August 29, to learn to knit socks from the toe up. Limited to 12 participants, $30 + materials. You’ll need approximately 50 yards of sport or fingering weight yarn (smooth and light-colored without a lot of variegation so that you can see your stitches), two circular needles that give you a gauge of 8 stitches per inch (this will probably be a US 1 or 2) and a copy of Toe-Up!

Aeolian Shawls

Congratulations to Irina and Kathy, who have completed their Aeolian Shawls for the knitalong.

They did the same number of pattern repeats with different yarns and needles and came out with quite the difference in finished dimensions!

Granny Square Marathon Winners

Congratulations to Jo’Elle and Julie, who tied to win the Granny Square Marathon with 65 squares each. They were making squares down to the very last minute on Friday and ended up with a tie!
