Finishing Techniques with Carol Anderson
Sunday, November 16
12-4p.m.
I’ve been knitting since I was a junior in high school and have taught 4-Her’s, adult education, seminars, and Stitches conventions. I’m the designer/owner of Cottage Creations, a home-based mail order business serving over 500 shops nationwide since 1983. I’ve a degree in education and taught special education classes in Madison, WI, until retirement and a move with husband, Paul, to our farm in Iowa in 1993. We have four children, six grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
Finishing Class Homework:
In this session you will learn to seam garter stitch, stockinette stitch, do three-needle bind-off and kitchener stitch. Time permitting we’ll do more-for instance, twisted cord, provisional cast on. Please do the following homework before you come to class:
Use light colored worsted weight yarn and size 5-8 size needles:
1. Make 2: Cast on 15 stitches, knit in Garter Stitch (knit every row) for 3″. Bind off.
2. Make 2: Cast on 15 stitches, Knit in stockinette stitch for 3″ (knit one row, purl one row). Bind off, steam flat.
3. Make 4: Cast on 20 stitches, knit in stockinette stitch for 2″, leave on needles. (double point needles work especially well for this–if you have them, please use.)
And please, bring a tapestry needle and crochet hook (size 00 or F range)!
