We are pleased to announce that the trunk show for Annie Modesitt’s Romantic Hand Knits is currently at Yarn Harbor. Annie Modesitt is a Minnesota designer, which makes her trunk show especially exciting. Knit items from her book are on display throughout the store, so if you have any doubt as to which items are a part of the trunk show feel free to ask a friendly employee.
We have Romantic Hand Knits in stock and it is a lovely book. Modesitt describes her idea of romance in the introduction of the book:
“I began to explore the idea of romance, not just from the perspective of falling-in-love-with-another-person, but more as a matter of falling-in-love-with-life. Romance became a lens through which I could view life-not perfect, but idealized. I fell in love with the idea of romance! Beautiful clothing, exquisite dinners, exciting destinations-and the quest for the perfect yarn-all took on an unashamed, romantic aspect.” (7)
Most of the pieces in our trunk show are from the first section of the book, Above the Waist, which features eleven camisoles, cardigans, wraps and sweaters with lacework. Modesitt oftentimes uses multiple yarns in a single top.
If you’ve never thought of knitting a skirt or dress before, Modesitt has quite a few high-fashion designs in her book, including the cover skirt. These garments are designed to flatter the body and they certainly do!
Modesitt closes her book with a section on accessories, including stockings, gloves, scarves, wraps, and hats. If you’re seeking out a romantic summer look, Modesitt’s book is the one for you!
